The issue of Thai billionaire Anne Jakrajutatip’s purchase of the Miss Universe Organization mentions the name of Filipino politician and businessman Luis “Chavit” Singson.
Singson is a major sponsor of the 65th Miss Universe pageant, which will be held on January 23, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Anne is the CEO of Thailand-based JKN Global Group, and according to international press reports, she paid US$20 million for the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) from Endeavor Group Holdings Inc.
However, Anne stated in an interview with the Bangkok Post that she paid US$14 million.
Singson’s name is mentioned because he previously stated that he spent US$12 million as the major sponsor of the 65th Miss Universe in 2017.
According to the Bangkok Post, Anne spent US$14 million to purchase MUO, and the Filipino businessman can do the same.
There were rumors that Singson had no intention of purchasing MUO.
Singson stated in a June 2018 interview with Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN News that he had not been paid by the private companies that partnered with him when the global beauty pageant was held in the Philippines in January 2017.
“Awa ng Diyos, di pa ako bayad. Maraming rason.
“I don’t want to name names pero marami pa silang kulang.
“May sisingilin pa akong P100 million, $2 million.
“Dapat magbayad na sila,” Sinson stated.
Meanwhile, Anne held a live Facebook broadcast last night, October 26, about her company’s acquisition of MUO.
Anne disclosed that her talks with Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc. lasted a year. before he gained permanent control of the MUO.
The Miss Universe Organization’s headquarters will remain in New York City, according to Anne, but it will also have an office in her JKN Empire building in Bangkok.
Anne’s plan is to hold the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand every other year to promote the country’s tourism industry.
