President Ferdinand R. Marcos declared October 31 a special non-working holiday on Tuesday in the hopes of trying to strengthen family connections and trying to promote domestic tourism.
“The President has already signed the proclamation declaring October 31 as a special non-working holiday para na rin po mas marami po tayong time kasama ang ating pamilya at para ma-promote na rin po ang ating local tourism,” said Undersecretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Press Secretary, during a press briefing.
Proclamation No. 79, issued on October 18, designated October 31, 2022, as a Special (Non-Working) Day across the country.
The Department of Labor and Employment has been directed to issue the necessary circulars in order to carry out the proclamation in the private sector. This will allow Filipinos to observe All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day and spend quality time with their families on extended days. This will also encourage long “weekend” vacations, which also will assist domestic tourism.
Proclamation No. 1236, issued on October 29, 2021, designated November 1 as a Special (Non-Working) Day.
