The Instagram account for the Miss Grand International pageant has nearly two million followers.
This comes less than 24 hours after Isabella Menin of Brazil was named the new winner in conjunction with the beauty pageant’s tenth anniversary in Thailand.
On Tuesday night, October 25, 2022, the Miss Grand International 2022 finale show was held in West Java, Indonesia.
Netizens around the world are enthusiastic, not just in the Philippines, which sends a candidate to Miss Grand International (MGI) every year.
The MGI Instagram account has 4.5 million followers, down from 6.5 million.
According to comments on a pageant account, the majority of Vietnamese people unfollowed MGI after Miss Grand Vietnam Doan Thien An did not make the Top 10.
On Miss Grand International’s Facebook page, many angry emojis from Vietnamese people can be seen in some of its posts.
Beauty-pageant fans in the Philippines were disappointed once more because our candidate, Roberta Tamondong, only made it to the Top 20.
Netizens’ “cooking show” posts against Miss Grand International and its founder and president, Nawat Itsaragrisil, have resurfaced in this regard.
Pinoy pageant fans suspect that “favoritism” is being applied to the candidates, and Filipino contestants appear to be unpopular.
Some argue that Nawat is “envious” of the Philippines because the country has produced four Miss Universe winners while Thailand has produced only two.
Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2016) are the Philippines’ Miss Universe winners (2018).
Apasra Hongsakula (1965) and Porntip Nakhirunkanok (1966) were Thai Miss Universe winners (1988).
Nawat admitted on Wednesday, October 26, that Miss Grand International has lost a lot of Instagram followers.
He also claimed to have discovered that only Vietnamese people unfollowed.
She stated on her Instagram Story: “I did check MGI Instagram already all unfollowed are Vietnam. Thanks for unfollow [Vietnam flag emoji] We always respect and fair to everyone and every countries.”
Meanwhile, Roberta Tamondong expressed gratitude to all the Filipinos who supported her.
In her Instagram Story today, the Pinay beauty queen expressed her hope that her countrymen are proud of her, despite the fact that she only placed in the Top 20.
She also stated that he would be returning to the Philippines later tonight.
She stated, “Philippines, I hope I made you proud! [Philippine flag emoji]
“I’m coming home tonight. Maraming Salamat sa pagsuporta. [smiling, heart emoji]”
