On the basis of a lawsuit filed by model Deniece Cornejo, a Taguig court issued an arrest warrant for comedian-host Vhong Navarro on Monday for acts of l@sciviousness.
As of this posting, Navarro is on his direction to the National Bureau of Investigation to surrender, according to his lawyer Alma Mallonga.
Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 116 Judge Angela Francesca Din found “probable cause” to keep Navarro for trial in a one-page order after “personally evaluating and taking into consideration the Information…as well as the allegations in the complaint affidavit executed by the offended party, which are all under oath, together with the supporting documents…”
“As probable cause exists to hold the accused for trial,” the order stated, “let a Warrant of Arrest be issued against accused Ferdinand ‘Vhong’ H. Navarro.”
The Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court recommended P36,000 bail. The actions in the lasciviousness case are distinct from the rape charge that was previously brought against Navarro. It is said to have occurred on January 22, 2014. Cornejo first claimed Navarro raped her at her condominium apartment on January 22, but subsequently changed her story, claiming she was raped on January 17 of the same year.
The filing of rape and lasciviousness charges against Navarro followed a Court of Appeals verdict in favor of Cornejo, which overturned the DOJ’s dismissal of all accusations she made against Navarro owing to contradictory testimony. Navarro’s lawyer detailed the events of January 22, 2014, when he was “detained, mauled, threatened, tied up” by the Cedric Lee gang in a claim.
Cornejo was spotted on CCTV entering the elevator a minute after Navarro arrived at her apartment unit. According to his lawyer, Navarro will request reconsideration of the ruling to issue an arrest warrant but will submit it to the police in the meantime.
“After she enters elevator, she is smiling, even apparently suppressing giggles, as she looks at her reflection, making it clear she was not a victim of r@pe/attempted r@pe/acts of l@sciviousness,” Navarro’s lawyer Mallonga stated.
“Mr. Navarro reiterates that he is the victim of the crimes of Serious Illegal Detention and Grave Coercion,” Mallonga wrote.
In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, Navarro expressed concern over the resurfacing of the r@pe case.
