Adam Levine has addressed the adultery charges leveled against him by internet personality Sumner Stroh, admitting to being “flirtatious” with her but emphasizing that they did not have an affair.
The Maroon 5 frontman addressed the topic on his Instagram Stories on Friday, Sept. 20, in order to “clear the air.”
“I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner,” he stated. I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life. In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family.”
Levine expressed contrition for making the “biggest mistake [he] could ever make” and emphasized how much he loved his family and his wife, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo, who is presently expecting their third child.
“To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make,” he said. “I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it [and] we will get through it together.”
Stroh previously displayed screenshots of her talks with Levine, claiming that they had an affair for “about a year.” Stroh reportedly claimed that she stopped communicating with him for months, but Levine “came back into [her] life” and asked if he could name his third kid after her.
Since 2014, Levine and Prinsloo have been married. Meanwhile, Prinsloo’s pregnancy was announced earlier this month.
