Vilma Santos, the “Star For All Seasons” and previous Darna star, gave her permission and approval to the new Darna Jane De Leon.

In a recent post, the new Darna responded to critics and faced down doubters. She was damaged by the attack. She first took the criticism of people who questioned her skills very personally. Most were questioning why she was given the part, and she found herself wondering the very same thing.

According to host Regine Velasquez of Magandang Buhay, the current Darnas were not as popular as they first appeared to be. Like the past Darnas in their era, she is regarded as a fresh face in the industry.

“So tama lang na, bagong mukha ang maging Darna ngayon,” Regine stated.

De Leon was told by Santos that the fact that the role carries responsibilities makes it more than just a role. 

She hopes that the new Darna will take some steps to set a good example for others and motivate them. She went on to say that Darna should be proud of getting the legendary part because it is much wanted for.

According to an ABS-CBN report, Vilma Santos stated to De Leon the following:

“Ngayon, Jane, na ikaw ang napiling Darna, bigyan mo sila ng inspirasyon na meron pa ring pagmamahal, meron pa ring tiwala, at meron pa ring pag-asa. Ang daming humawak ng batong ‘yan.“

“Ngayon, Jane, na sa ‘yo ang bato. Pangalagan mo iyang mabuti. Maging ehemplo ka ng henerasyon ngayon. I wish you all good luck. Nandito lang ako to support you.“
