The US Ambassador to the Philippines, MaryKay Carlson, tested positive for COVID-19. Carlson tweeted a photo of her diagnostic strip and stated that she was isolating herself at home due to minor symptoms.
She expressed gratitude for being vaccinated and boosted with the Pfizer COVID vaccine and expressed her desire to “looking forward to recovering and experiencing more of the Philippines.”
Despite a minor rise in patients admitted to intensive care units, the Philippines maintains a low risk of the coronavirus, according to the Department of Health on Friday.
According to the officer-in-charge of the Department of Health, Maria Rosario Vergeire, the country’s ICU use rate increased from 26 percent to 28 percent.
Carlson landed in the Philippines on July 21.
She even requested ideas for shows and movies to watch while she was alone.
