The singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre received appreciation on social media for reprimanding a body-shaming internet user.
There is no doubting that girls and women are brainwashed to believe that a large portion of their worth derives from their appearances and physical features from a very early age. Celebrities have become easy targets for body shamers.
Being a celebrity who is frequently in the spotlight may subject you to intense internal and external criticism. But there are a few powerful A-listers who have spoken out against fat shaming and defended themselves, like Angel Locsin (and all women).
Singer Moira Dela Torre from Kapamilya was criticized once more for her weight. She couldn’t help responding to a hater who attacked her physical appearance.
The internet user commented on Moira’s picture photoshoot for a well-known online shop on Facebook and said, “Konting push na lang, ‘yan na ba talaga katawan mo ngayon?”
He said, “Not to offend ha, Ms. Moira. Para aware ka na. You know, mga lalaki katawan din tingnan.”
Moira Dela Torre responded by saying that if she were to slim down, it would be for her, not for a guy.
“At the end of the day, every person deserves someone who can love them and be faithful to them in all their phases, in every season —sickly, healthy, thin or fat,” she stated.
“I hope you’re eating well and that whoever you’re with know your value and your worth whatever size you are,” Moira added.
