Iza Calzado, an actress, was given the role of Darna in 2004 and had already begun preparing for it. However, she discusses why it didn’t work out.

Iza revealed on the latest episode of King of Talk Boy Abunda’s The Interview Presents on YouTube that she came very close to becoming Darna 18 years ago. She was also still working for GMA at the time.

The management asked her to go to the Darna. She was called, seated, and informed of this.

Iza Calzado claims that it was never her goal to play the famous part since she thought it was “beyond Barbie” and “picture perfect.”

She underwent operations to correct her figure due to this proposal because she had lost a significant amount of weight.

The actress disclosed that she underwent “thigh lift” and “tummy tuck” operations. Iza claimed that the procedures were extremely painful. She stated that she had to re-audition for the part and had a difficult time before declaring, “I’m over it.”

Then she found herself in charge of Encantadia’s Amihan. Darna was “totally forgotten” after that, and Iza believed that it was never for her.

Iza Calzado claimed that she truly understood the iconic superhero role was never meant for her when Angel Locsin assumed the part of the Darna. She claimed that Angel was the best candidate for the position at the time and that she was supposed to fulfill it.
