The four Binibinis, who included Rizal’s Herlene Budol and Stacey Daniella Gabriel as first and second runners up, defeated 34 other candidates in the coronation night held today, Aug. 1.
Borromeo was born with the Bb. Pilipinas International title from last year’s winner Hannah Arnold, and Tamondong was crowned Bb by Samantha Panlilio. Pilipinas International Grand Prix
Two international champions crowned their Bb as well. Pilipinas successors must now secure back-to-back victories for the Philippines.
The reigning Miss Intercontinental, Faye Obeita, passed her BB. Basiano was awarded the Miss Pilipinas title, while current Miss Globe Maureen Montagne relinquished her national crown to Fernandez.
And Rizal’s Herlene Budol (Bb. Shein, Bb. Pizza Hut, Bb. Kumu, Jag Queen, Bb. Silka, and Bb. World Balance), Iloilo City’s Karen Laurrie Mendoza (Bb. Moist Diane Shampoo), Tacloban City’s Chelsea Fernandez (Bb. Ever Bilena), and Samar’s Gabrielle Camille Basiano (Bb. Ever Bilena) won special awards (Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown).
Arnold has yet to appear in international competition and will compete in the 60th Miss International pageant in December. Her overseas assignment was pushed back due to the cancellation of the global tilt’s edition last year. The 59th installment took place in 2019.
Borromeo will participate in the 61st edition next year. The other three 2022 Bb. In October, the Pilipinas queens will compete in their respective international competitions.
Sunday night’s coronation ceremony marked the end of Bb’s P-pop-themed pageant season. Pilipinas. SB19 gave the pageant’s iconic theme song a P-pop twist, which they also performed at the finals, where they also treated the audience to a medley of their hits “Bazinga” and “SLMT.”
Meanwhile, the first all-female hosting team, comprised of 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray and 2016 Miss Grand International first runner-up Nicole Cordoves, returned this year.
