The actress recently disclosed her resignation from her role as the director general of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP).
Vivian said that she had left the Film Academy of the Philippines in a statement released on the group’s official Facebook page. She claimed to have submitted her “irrevocable resignation” in May.
The actress then expressed her gratitude to the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Board of Directors for giving her the chance to hold the position of FAP Director General.
“It was a very challenging stint, to say the least, and the pandemic did not make it any easier, either,” Vivian stated.
The Film Academy of the Philippines has previously been under criticism from several industry groups for failing to submit the country’s official entry to the Academy Awards for the foreign film category in December 2021.
The coronavirus pandemic at the moment hindered the Film Academy of the Philippines from receiving funding in time to begin the selection procedure for an entry.
“It has no credible source of income, or, government support to make ends meet. The next DG will surely have his work cut out for him, or her,” Vivian shared.
According to her, FAP treasurer Manny Morfe will be the acting officer-in-charge of the organization while the board of the Cultural Center of the Philippines deliberates on the appointment of a new director general.
