The names “DJ Loonyo” and “Janine Berdin” are now trending on social media.
The problem began after Berdin updated her Facebook profile photo to a meme regarding renaming Ninoy Aquino International Airport to DJ Loonyo International Airport.
The meme further ins*lted his “hawak bayag” dance moves.
He used it to execute a “hawak-bayag” dance step whenever he was dancing. But the dancer was ins*lted by the post of the Tawag Ng Tanghalan champion, which was meant to be a joke and merely for fun.
He took it very seriously, emphasizing that such an action is extremely insulting to him, who did nothing wrong to her or anybody else.
Loonyo apparently didn’t enjoy the joke and left a message the singer directly. He provided us a copy of their personal conversation.
“May natira pa po ba kayong respeto? may nagawa ba ako saying mali?” he inquired of Berdin.
The singer replied by defending herself. She clarified to him that her post was only a “super funny” meme she discovered, and that it did nothing wrong.
She believes that because it is only a meme, no one would find it disrespectful to him, and she has offered to remove it if he prefers.
After being the focus of a joke, Loonyo expanded on his views in a response to one of his postings. He implored her to be sensitive because she had no idea what he has been through.
“Maging sensitive tayo minsan, di natin alam pinagdadaanan ng isa’t isa satin… Pero para katuwaan sigeeee, Go lang, kahit iba na yung napuntahan ng KATUWAAN… PANGALAN MO SAYO YUNG AIRPORT, Baka ikaw yung may gusto hindi ako,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Janine remained firm. She feels there is nothing disr*spectful about what she did, which she regards as random and clearly satire.
She further stated that other people are making fun of her name, laughing at her and making fun of her, but she understands that all of this is part of being a public person.
