President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has named Paul Soriano as the director of his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), which will be delivered on Monday, July 25.

Soriano, the nephew of Marcos’ wife, Liza Araneta-Marcos, confirmed his involvement in the planned event yesterday, July 19, as reported by Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN.

According to the film’s director, “I am grateful and honored for this rare opportunity. Anytime the President needs me, I will deliver and do my best,”.

As stated by the filmmaker,Soriano will allegedly rehearse with Marcos on July 24, and his speech will be “concise, precise, and direct to the point.”

“The real challenge is for the public to hear him well,” Paul said.

“After all, this is a two-way process where listening skills [are] important to hear his message.”

Soriano has been developing Marcos’ television and web advertisements during his time as vice governor and governor of Ilocos Norte. Meanwhile, Toni Gonzaga, the filmmaker’s wife, backed Marcos during his campaign and held campaign rallies.
