Miguel and Paolo Benjamin Guico, the vocalists of the folk-pop band Ben&Ben, have managed to recover from COVID-19.
Miguel posted on Instagram that they had spent the previous two weeks in home quarantine and that it was difficult for them to remain still. “We’ve become so attuned to the daily grind of performing, writing, traveling, and recording. At some point, di namin nakita pero hinihingi na pala ng mga katawan namin ang pahinga,” he wrote.
The songwriter emphasized the importance of listening to our bodies in order to know when to take a break and sleep.
“Then we [realized] that life has a natural way of telling us to pause,” he explained. “For those of us (including myself) who have deadlines to chase, families to support, goals to reach, and productivity to maintain, let’s try to listen to our bodies when they tell us to do the thing that’s seemingly impossible[—]let’s pause and rest for a while.”
“Hoping that you would have an opportunity to rest when you can. And when that happens, may you come back stronger. I am rooting for you!” he added.
Paolo has recovered as well, but he revealed on Instagram Stories that his ability to taste has yet to continue as normal.
“Sad pala pag ganun,” he said, “but appreciate mo bigla pag nakakatikim ka ng masarap, sanaol.”
But since members of Ben&Ben have been infected with the virus, they have had to reschedule their showcases.
The group had to postpone their Surigao show two weeks earlier due to Miguel’s COVID-19.
Because Paolo and percussionist Toni Munoz came back positive, their July 2 show in Santiago, Isabela was rescheduled for July 17.
Ben&Ben will begin a tour in the United States and Canada in September.
