President Bongbong Marcos pledged in his inauguration speech to do what his father had accomplished while the late Marcos Sr. was still president.
PBBM remarked that his father noticed the little development that the Philippines achieved after it earned its freedom.
“I once knew a man who saw what little had been achieved since independence,” PBBM said.
“In a land of people with the greatest potential for achievement, and yet they were poor,” he continued.

The president also stated that his father completed the task with and without the necessary assistance.
“But he got it done. Sometimes, with the needed support, sometimes without,” he said.
President BBM then vowed to continue his father’s course of national development, saying he would make no excuses for not getting the job done.
