Johnoy Danao may disagree with Bianca Gonzalez, who applauded President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s inaugural State of the Nation Address (SONA), pointing out that the President was simply “reading a speech.”
Gonzalez, a renowned follower of former Vice President Leni Robredo, who is also running for president, had previously praised Marcos’ SONA on the TV host’s Twitter page yesterday, July 25.
“That was a good SONA for PBBM. Here’s hoping this admin delivers on the promises, para sa Bayan (for the country),” she remarked. “I may have voted for Leni Robredo and I still believe the Marcos family needs to be accountable for the stolen wealth and the ML (Martial Law) human rights abuses, but BBM is our duly elected President and I felt his SONA was good. Kung successful ang admin, success din ng Bayan (If the administration is successful, it is also the country’s success).”
Today, July 26, he appeared to contradict Gonzalez’s position while calling into question her usage of the word “para sa bayan.”
“He was just reading a speech. Just like what he was doing during the campaign, puro kasinungalingan (all lies),” he explained. “Para sa bayan? [Please.] Magbayad ng utang, pakulong ang nanay, panagutin sa mga ninakaw ng pamilya sa kaban ng bayan. Mind you, fake news/troll farm ginamit ng ‘duly elected.'”
[He should] pay his debts, imprison his mother, and account for what his family stole from the country. you, fake news [or] troll farms were what the “duly elected” used [during the election].)
Gonzalez subsequently explained that her complement was just intended for Marcos’ speech and that she remains committed to pushing for good government.
“The admin has yet to put in the effort to deliver; I will not be able to speak because of this speech,” she answered. “#NeverForget ang stance ko, kailangan managot sa mga nagawa,” he says.
(The admin has yet to put in the work to deliver. My principles are not changed with just one speech. My stand remains that they should be accounted for what they did [and that we should never forget].)
“Salamat din sa pagpoint out ng ‘duly elected.’ Will be more mindful sa pagpili ng terms,” Gonzalez addressed Danao. “Laban pa rin for good governance ito, Sir.”
(Thank you also for pointing out the term “duly elected.” [I] will be more mindful in choosing the terms [I will use]. This is still a fight for good governance, sir.)
Marcos emphasized the country’s economic goals, food security challenges, infrastructural advancements, and the pandemic situation at his State of the Nation Address. According to some experts, Marcos did not address the concerns of human rights violations, graft, and corruption. He concluded his over-an-hour-long speech by saying, “The state of the nation is sound.”
