The Ironman Group and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Series have teamed up with ASICS to host the “Rock ‘n’ Roll running series,” which will take place on Sunday, June 19.
This racing series is reported to be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and the Philippines, taking place in Manila. Participants will visit historic landmarks such as kilometer zero, Rizal Park, Intramuros, the National Museum, Manila City Hall, the Kartilya ng Katipunan, Jones Bridge, and China Town.
The marathon will be split into three distances: a 5k run will begin at 6 a.m.; a 10k run will begin at 5 a.m.; and a 21k run will begin at 5 p.m.
Medals will be awarded to participants based on the category they entered.
“The race is divided into two, it [is] a covid protocol thing…kung gusto niyo tumakbo sa umaga at gabi, ang tawag don “remix.” Kapag tumakbo ka twice, you get a medal,” At a news conference on Friday, Princess Galura, President and General Manager of Sunrise Events Inc., remarked.
The festival will wrap off on Sunday night with DJ Mark Marasigan, Gracenote, and The Itchyworms performing.
The Philippine government negotiated a five-year deal with the Rock ‘n’ Roll running series before the epidemic began. Four more should be expected in the city.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll series is the world’s largest running series, with events held in over 30 countries each year.
As of this writing, 5,150 people have registered for the marathon.
