After defeating their opponents in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Alex Eala and Marina Bassols Ribera are through to the W25 Palma del Rio semifinals.
Eala and Bassols Ribera, the runner-up and champion of W60 Madrid, defeated Marta Huqi Gonzales Encinas and Ashley Lahey of Spain, 6-1, 6-3.
Eala and Bassols Ribera, seeded fourth in the event, required only an hour to defeat their opponents.
Only the first game of the first set was won by Gonzales and Lahey before the 17-year-old and her partner stormed their way to a 6-1 victory.
Eala and Bassols Ribera took an early 4-0 lead, fueled by their enthusiasm.
While Gonzales and Lahey battled back to trim the lead to two games, 3-5, Eala and Bassols Ribera maintained their serve in a key eighth game to seal the victory.
As a result, they will face top-seeded Valeria Savinykh and Fanny Stollar in the semifinals on Thursday.
Eala also competes in women’s singles, where she will face second-seeded Jessika Ponchet in the Round of 16.
The 17-year-old tennis player is coming off a strong performance in Madrid, where she finished runner-up.
Eala is attempting to win her third ITF singles title and first in women’s singles.
