A number of musicians signed to OC Records, founded by Kean Cipriano and Chynna Ortaleza-Cipriano, have expressed thanks for the label’s encouragement of their creative endeavors.
Chynna stated during a special event commemorating the label’s fourth anniversary, was supporting the creative freedom and expression of its artists amid the rigors of the music business.
As a musician himself, Kean elaborated on this, saying that as a manager “parang mahalaga din sa akin” since he understands how essential creativity is.
Eugene Layug, whose song names span from “Landiin Niyo Na Ako” to “Mamamatay Yata Kong Single,” is an example of originality that blossomed under OC Records.
Eugene performed his single “Maghihiwalay Din Kayo” during the anniversary celebration, and Kean joked that when he first heard about it, he hoped it wasn’t about him and Chynna.
“Pinipigil ko tumawa, pero that’s the kind of music he makes—masaya kasama mga inuman,” Kean stated of Eugene’s upcoming song “Kabit Pala Ako.”
Adie, one of OC Record’s fast-growing artists, also revealed how the label made him understand how much more he could do, notably with his song “Paraluman,” the music video for which starred Ivana Alawi and was produced and directed by Bela Padilla.
Adie said, “Paraluman’ made me feel na kaya ko pa [gumawa pa],na ako ito,”
In fact, all of the artists that played alongside Eugene and Adie at the event — Chelsea Ronquillo, Kenaniah, and Pappel — agree that OC Records is enabling their creativity to come first, and they look forward to playing live more regularly.
Eugene stated, “The digital performances [that we did in the past] is only half of being an artist, [when you perform live] there’s a connection with the people listening to you,”
Many people are asking when Unique, one of the first musicians to sign with OC Records, will release a follow-up to his 2020 album “Pangalan.”
