In a previous interview, President Marcos stated that reducing rice prices is one of the possibilities he will consider during his first year in office. According to the presidential wager, he would then issue an executive order instructing the Department of Agriculture and the National Food Authority to purchase rice crops from local farmers at higher and more competitive rates. He also stated that he intends to lower rice prices by P20 to P30 per kilo by imposing a price ceiling on the staple.
