Toni Gonzaga, the first nominee of the Mothers for Change (MOCHA) Party-list, was criticized for claiming during a UniTeam event that presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will return to his “tahanan” — Malacañang.
Sara Duterte, the mayor of Davao City, is running for president together her running mate, Marcos Jr. Their UniTeam will face Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist candidate Lito Atienza, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
Previously, she stated at a UniTeam rally in Cebu that BBM will be returning to Malacañang eventually.
Toni Gonzaga made the announcement after performing “Roar,” her signature song during UniTeam rallies.
“Konting konting panahon na lamang at magbabalik na si BBM sa kanyang tahanan- ang Malacañang,” (“It’s only a matter of time and BBM will return to his home- Malacañang,”) she stated.
Mothers for Change (MOCHA) Party-list first nominee Mocha Uson was among those who responded to her statement.
Mocha is running for Congress as a candidate of the Mocha (Mothers for Change) Party, with volleyball player Michele Gumabao.
Mocha said in a TikTok video that Toni’s words demonstrate that she has no idea of public responsibility.
According to her, the actress-host seemed to be indicating that the dictator’s family would return to the palace.
Mocha went on to say that Malacañang is only a public servant’s post that belongs to every Filipino.
Toni Gonzaga has yet to offer a response after being criticized for her BBM declaration.
