Mayor Isko Moreno has a new statement for the Vice President. Leni Robredo and her fans.  The Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer insultingly referred to the Vice President and her followers as “matapobre,” or “elitist and bully.” Following his request that she withdraw from the presidential election campaign a few weeks before the May 2022 polls.

On Easter Sunday, Mayor Isko called on Vice President Robredo to quit at a press conference held at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City Robred. He stated that the Vice President’s tactics were ineffective against the frontrunner. He advised her to “be a hero” by withdrawing from the presidential race.

Mayor Isko’s appeal for Vice President to quit. Robredo did not go down well with the Vice President’s supporters. It sparked criticism on social media. The election candidates who attended the press conference distanced themselves from the Mayor of Manila’s request.

Mayor Isko said that he will not join in a fight with Vice President Robredo, claiming that the Vice President and her followers look down on small people and have a high esteem for themselves.

“Mataas ang pagtingin nila sa sarili nila… We are just stating facts. Na ang mga pink, bully, at sina Leni, matapobre,” the Mayor of Manila stated. 

Mayor Isko also said that many Filipinos are unwilling to support the Vice President and engage her team because they are reportedly elitist and use insulting language toward others. He also referred to the Vice President as the “godmother of all bullies.”
