Ka Leody has been vocal about a lot of significant topics. He has campaigned in several provinces, most particularly in Bukidnon.

However, a shooting incident occurred during a campaign visit in Quezon, Bukidnon. When the event occurred, Ka Leody de Guzman and his staff were meeting with the indigenous Manobo-Pulanguihon people.

The event injured many people, including one who was apparently barely a foot away from De Guzman when he was shot. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has agreed to investigate the event.

Ka Leody de Guzman had already returned home, where he was greeted warmly by his wife, Marieza Tolentino, who had prepared a warm meal for them. The candidate for president uploaded a video recorded when he arrived at their home on Twitter.

In the kitchen, Ka Leody kissed his wife on the cheek, and she questioned him, “Ano, buhay ka pa?” “Oo naman. May anting-anting,” the labor leader said lovingly.
