On Tuesday, a Russian cruise missile presumably aiming for a neighboring air base hit residences in the Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr, killing four people, according to Anton Gerashchenko, assistant to Ukraine’s interior minister, on his Telegram channel.
“So far, four people have died. Including a child,” Anton Gerashchenko stated.
He said that residential structures near the 95th Airborne Brigade’s base in Zhytomyr, 120 kilometers (75 miles) west of Kyiv, had been burned down.
Moscow told Kyiv residents to evacuate their homes on Tuesday and showered missiles on Ukraine’s second city, Kharkiv, as Russian commanders upped their bombardment of urban areas in a tactical move after their six-day offensive stagnated.
Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko said on Facebook that Russian soldiers killed a pediatric anesthesiologist as she was transporting her injured nephew to the hospital from the Kyiv area town of Kukhari.
According to Ukraine’s defense ministry, 16 high-precision guided missiles were fired on Monday between 7:07 p.m. and 8:07 p.m. as well as 7:51 p.m. (1707 GMT and 1751 GMT), from a strategic bomber flying over Russia’s Belgorod region, targeting Kharkiv residential areas.
