Marvel’s nearly two-minute YouTube video introduces Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American from Jersey City who discovers she has abilities.

She then juggles attempting to live a regular adolescent life with battling off evil. “The future is in her hands,” said the trailer.

Ms. Marvel is the name of numerous fictional superheroes that feature in Marvel Comics comic books. Originally, the character was intended to be a female equivalent to Captain Marvel. Most Ms. Marvels, like Captain Marvel, get their abilities through Kree technology or dna.

The next series, starring Iman Vellani, will air on Disney+ on June 8th.
