LTO NCR-West Director Atty. Clarence Guinto answered back when he was asked by “Tyang Amy” of dzMM Teleradyo about the tall kids to use boosters to adhere the law known as the Republic Act No. 11229, or the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act.

The answer of LTO Director Atty. Clarence Guinto trends online with the mix reactions from the netizens airing grievances on the issue.

The law mandated children ages 12-year-old and below to use car seats by the driver for safety measure using the DOTr  “child car seat” as prescribe safety measure.

However, there is an exemption to the law that is if the child reach to the maximum height required at least 4.92 feet tall that can be secured by a regular seat belt.

The short video clip caught the attention of the netizens as they noticed irrelevant remark that cause confusion to the people.

On the other hand, Guinto issued apology letter to address the issue. He also clarifies that those taller child with height above 4’11 is exempted from using a child car seat.
