The UK variant of COVID-19 has now its first victim died in the Philippines.
In more than 200 countries all over the world, the COVID-19 has brought a massive change and affects even the lifestyle and economy of the country prompting the authorities to implement a new normal situation like wearing of face mask and practice social distancing were among the new normal protocols.
Some religious and social gatherings were not permitted due to COVID-19. This also brought class suspension for the face-to-face encounter in in different levels.
All efforts had been done by the Department of Health (DOH) to fight the killer disease in the country but in spite of the said fight and precautionary measure, unfortunately, the new variant of the coronavirus disease, the United Kingdom (UK variant) is currently detected in the Philippines.
According to the similar report from ANC, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire issued official statement to confirm the first death recorded in Benguet due to COVID-19 UK variant. The first death case was recorded from the 84-year-old patient in La Trinidad, Benguet.
“…died sometime in January, 3rd or 4th week of January. Apparently, nung kausap natin yung regional office namin, they said that the person never went out,” Vergeire narrated on the report.
Vergeire added that the first victim of UK variant in Benguet stayed at their home and reportedly no contact with other people but authorities are still conducting investigation to the source of infection.
