EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 2.9 magnitude quake in Pangasinan, September 23, 2020.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
As of the report from Philnews, One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.
Previously, on April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. But the agency advises the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of Pangasinan. At 10:41 am, September 21, 2020, Bolinao was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Pangasinan was located at 16.58°North, 119.70°East – 030 km North 43° West of Bolinao. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 014 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that no damage is expected of the said quake. No aftershock is expected of the said quake as well. Furthermore, no intensity was recorded of the said quake that hit Pangasinan.
