The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines has exceeded the 40,000-mark on Friday, with 1,531 new cases reported by the Department of Health.

As of 4PM today, July 03, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 40,336.

In addition to the 688 fresh cases, 843 late cases were also reported today. Today’s fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 57 out of 73 current operational labs.

DOH likewise announces 400 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 11,073.

As of July 1, DOH data showed only 41.7% of the nationwide bed capacity for COVID-19 patients are currently being used, wherein 487 intensive care unit beds or 36% are occupied; 1,539 (46.57%) ward beds are occupied and only 3,805 isolation beds (40.78%) are used, according to Inquirer.net.
