Senator Manny Pacquiao is making round on social media following after his statement on death penalty where the netizens express sentiment against him.
The argument amid the law making body was raised on the certain issue of reinstating the death penalty in the country from which, boxing legend turned politician gives his remark of willingness of reviving the death penalty in the Philippines citing that it is not illegal in the sight of the Lord and in the government side.
“Gusto ko lang po i-explain sa lahat na ang pag-reinstate death penalty sa bansa natin [ay] hindi po illegal, hindi po labag sa mata ng gobyerno, sa mata ng Panginoon dahil biblically, allowed po ang gobyerno, the authority which is established by God, to impose [death penalty], especially [on heinous crimes],” the lawmaker said.
The senator expressed sentiment over the crime happening amid the pandemic where he said that the crime situation during the time of crisis saddened him, Inquirer says.
“Marapat lamang na parusahan ang mga drug manufacturers and traffickers dahil ang kanilang nasa isip ay kung paano pa lalong magpayaman,” cited the senator.
Pacquiao also said that he filed a bill to the 17th Congress during his first year on the senate to reinstate and impose death penalty over certain heinous crimes including the manufacturing and trafficking of illegal drugs.
Because of Pacquiao’s point of view several netizens expressed comment bashing the senator on Twitter especially when he quoted religious reference for his stand on the death penalty issue.

However, one pastor, a friend of mine, defended the senator on his stand of reinstating the death penalty citing that Pacquiao has a basis to introduce to reactivate the death penalty in the country and criticizes Pacquiao’s online bashers.
According to Pastor Vince of Apostolic Church but refused to reveal his full identity for a certain reason. He said that he can understand the senator on his claim. Pastor Vince said, Senator Paquiao learns Biblical principles from where he got his stand of reinstating the death penalty because that learning is common for a Born Again Christian, knowing that a Born Again Christian has extraordinary learning from the Bible compare those traditional Christians. This is the reason that many people cannot relate to the Biblical knowledge because they don’t have that level of spiritual understanding.
Pastor Vince said, that the bashers of the senator are just saying on their own understanding according to their innocency of the scripture and and the Law of God. They’re not the kind of people to listen to when it comes to talk about what is Biblical. They don’t even know that God commanded to kill many people during the Old Testament time.
Pastor Vince also cited an example from the basher’s comment above, as one is trying to illustrate scenarios from old time history of Christendom from the Christian Martyrs who died on their faith and opposed against the governance of the pagan Roman government. But what pastor Vince was trying to differentiate from the death penalty in the stand of Senator Pacquio is, “the early Christian Martyrs died for their faith to the Lord as righteous obedient believers of Christ who were innocents that do no harm to the people, while Paquiao’s death penalty wanted to impose is for the sinners and disobedient proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt who are worthy of death penalty.” Pacquiao also cited that the death penalty is for the sinners doing heinous crime and not for the faithful and obedience.
Pastor Vince added that the law of death penalty has nothing to worry for the good people because surely, that law will do no harm for them.
