Five (5) locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and three Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Negros Occidental.
The four (4) LSIs came from Cebu and one (1) from Manila. All of them were all asymptomatic.
The LSIs include a 22-year-old male from Escalante City, a 36-year-old female from Cadiz City, a 36-year-old male from San Carlos City, and a 43-year-old male from Silay City.
According to Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, the two LSIs from Escalante and Cadiz were isolated in a facility, while those from San Carlos and Silay were home quarantined. While the 10-year-old LSI from Moises Padilla town was quarantined in a facility.
Diaz said two female OFWs, aged 32 and 45, also tested positive for COVID-19 and were quarantined in a hotel.
A 38-year-old female from Binalbagan town, who recently returned to the province has also contracted the virus.
As as of June 19, 2020, there have been 28,459 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in the country. Out of these cases, 7,378 recoveries and 1,130 deaths were recorded.
