The Kapamilya Network is about to issue the list of employees who will be included to the retrenchment in the ABS-CBN after the network shutdown on May 5, 2020.

ABS-CBN Chief Executive and President Carlo Katigbak told before the congress on Tuesday, May 26 during the hearing of franchise renewal.

During the hearing, Katgbak emphasize the significant of the 11,000 employees who are talents in the station.

According to the 49-year-old executive, the job of their employees are at risk when the congress delayed their decision and ABS-CBN cannot resume to air the program on August citing that they are afraid of their future if they will lose their job.

“Alam po namin na sa panahon ng pandemya, napakahirap pong mawalan ng trabaho, dahil hindi madaling makahanap ng panibagong hanapbuhay,” he said.

Katigbak also clarifies that they don’t beg mercy over the issue citing the social media post that they’re doing moves that people will support them amid franchise issue.

“May nagsasabi sa social media na nagpapaawa lang daw kami.
“Sana po makausap ninyo ang isang tatay o nanay na mawawalan ng hanapbuhay.
“Sana po maramdaman niyo ang takot nila kapag iniisip nila kung papaano nila bubuhayin at papakainin ang kanilang pamilya.
“Sana po pakinggan ninyo ang boses ng aming mga Kapamilya.
“Sinabi ng presidente ng aming rank and file union, ‘Hindi na kami makatulog sa pangangamba.
Hindi po kami nagpapaawa, Katigbak narrated.

To recall, Katigbak explained during the hearing on May 19, 2020 that the ABS-CBN may come to the point of retrenchment if they cannot back the operation on the month of August.

But during the second hearing on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the ABS-CBN head noted that they’re going to start the retrenchment of their employees.

“Habang wala kami sa ere, palaki nang palaki ang nalulugi sa amin.
“At sa mga darating na linggo, mapipilitan na kaming maglabas ng listahan ng mga empleyadong mawawalan ng trabaho.
“Sana makita po ng Kongreso na nasa kapangyarihan ninyo ang kinabukasan nila” he said.

But he also said that they’re going to do everything to protect their employees.

“We want to do everything we can to protect our employees.
“Pero may hangganan din ang kakayahan ng kumpanya naming,” he added.
