NASA is on livestreaming with the Asteroid 52768 (1998 OR2) approaching the earth as this is very close to the captured by the camera.
According to earthsky.org, the Asteroid (52768) 1998 OR2 will pass relatively close to Earth on April 29, 2020.
It also clarifies that the asteroid passing close to the earth is in a safe distance, at some 4 million miles (6 million km), or about 16 times the Earth-moon distance.
It also said that this asteroid is considered biggest asteroid to fly by Earth this year (that we know about so far); according to current estimates, it’s probably a bit over a mile wide (2 km) and mostly spherical.
NASA estimates that the closest approach of the asteroid on earth will be April 29 around 5:56 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (09:56 UTC.
Professional observatories have been pointing their telescopes at the huge space rock already. The Asteroid (52768) 1998 OR2 can also be seen as opportunity for the amateur astronomers to observe using their smaller telescopes as it passes a slow-moving “star.”
