The local government of Cebu City confirmed 40 new cases of COVID-19 in the city and the new most cases of coronavirus recorded in the epicenter of the city.
The Department of Health has confirmed 7,579 cases of the disease in the country. Out of the total number, 862 patients have already recovered while 501 died due to the disease.
One of the huge numbers of coronavirus cases in the Philippines was in Cebu City. The city has also extended there Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) until May 15.
The Mayor of Cebu City, Mayor Edgardo Labella, has been locked down the Barangay Luz wherein it is the epicenter of COVID-19 in the city which was considered by the Department of Health as an infected area.
Twenty-two persons that were the newly confirmed cases of the disease are from Barangay Luz. The cases came from different sitios and not only from Sitio Zapatera which is considered also as an infected area.
Recently, on a report on ABS-CBN News, there are 40 new coronavirus cases that were recorded in Cebu City. the report was confirmed by Mayor Edgardo Labella.
Based on the report, those who tested positive for the virus were brought to the Barangay Isolation Centers of the city. There were 19 schools that are identified as isolation centers for the asymptomatic patients and those who showed only mild symptoms.
There are also quarantine centers that opened in the city. The said facility located at the North Reclamation Area that can cater to up to 200 patients with mild to medium signs of COVID-19. So far, there is now a total of 451 cases of the disease confirmed in the city.
Meanwhile, the Philippines is one of the over 200 countries battling against the impacts of coronavirus pandemic that has already claimed over 200,000 lives all around the world.
