14 COVID-19 cases in Quezon City were sent home due to mild symptoms.
The fast-spreading of the 2019 novel coronavirus in the country is one huge challenge for the Philippine government, authorities, and the people. It can infect a lot of people in a short period of time and make a nation under a lockdown.
Novel coronavirus was first recorded in Wuhan, China and caused an outbreak. Over 80,000 people in the Chinese community were infected with the virus.
Also, Italy is one of the most affected countries by COVID-19. Italy is now under a total lockdown and the death toll is now over 6,000 that has surpassed the coronavirus deaths in China which is at 3,270.
In the Philippines, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 now is 501. Nineteen (19) had recovered but 33 of them died due to the virus.
Based on a report on GMA, the hardest-hit cities in PH is Quezon City. As of the news, there is now a total of 62 cases of coronavirus in the city.
Based on the report, it is from the protocol observed by the Department of Health (DOH) as they have mild symptoms. That’s why 14 of the COVID-19 cases in Quezon City were sent home after they were tested for coronavirus.
Based on the DOH Memorandum 2020-0108, “Persons under investigation (PUIs) and positive COVID-19 patients who exhibit mild symptoms with no co-morbidities and non-elderly are advised to be sent home for strict self-isolation and close monitoring by local health authorities,”
As to the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of QC, patients who were sent home did not observe self-quarantine. However, those who were tested positive will be moved to a hotel quarantine to prevent the spreading of the disease.
