Taal Volcano emitted dirty-white to white steam-laden plumes indicating magmatic activity that believed by the expert seismologists might lead to eruption.

The Philvolcs also said that the magmatic activity of the volcano associated with volcanic earthquake up to 134 times since Sunday until 8:00 am on Monday February 3, 2020.

Phivolcs indicates two seismic events at 4:20 am and 5:42 am with magnitudes of 3.2 and 2.3 respectively. According to the expert this magmatic activity beneath Taal Volcano indicates that could lead to eruption activity from the Main Crater.

Warning Alert Level 3 still in effect resulting to prohibit entry of villagers and communities to the Taal Island and surrounding places within the reach of 7-kilometer radius from the Main Crater.

Phivolcs also issued warning against the possible “steam-driven and even weak phreatomagmatic explosions, volcanic earthquakes, ashfall, and lethal volcanic gas expulsions” within Taal Volcano Island and nearby lakeshores.

Phivolcs also advised pilots not to fly close to the volcano, as “airborne ash and ballistic fragments from sudden explosions and wind-remobilized ash may pose hazards to aircraft.”
