Volcano explosion is reportedly causing five people dead in New Zealand coast on Monday, December 9, 2019.

An hour after the explosion, immediate rescue operation by helicopter is taking place despite of danger for rescuer but helping dozens of survivors is given priority from being critically injured.

According to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, aircraft flew to and fro to response for the rescue of missing victims but no signs of life have been seen at any point.

Report said, missing victims includes New Zealanders and tourists from the U.S., China, Australia, Britain and Malaysia.

The said location is considered tourist destination since 1920 after a mining enterprise vacated the area. Since then, the island became a private scenic reserve in 1953 drawing more than 10,000 people visit every year.

The island is known by indigenous Maori name Whakaari.
