President Rodrigo Duterte witnessed the condemnation of 30 smuggled luxury cars during the 116th anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
Among the luxury cars includes the most expensive sports car “McLaren” worth more or less $265,500 (P13.3 million). The McLaren was found inside the container van at Manila port together with the dozen of luxury vehicles seized by the BOC last year.
Earlier, president Duterte confirmed that the BOC will be destroying smuggled vehicles on their custody.
According to report, the 30 luxury cars are coming from different ports in the country that includes two (2) units from the Port of Manila (POM) at Manila International Container Port (MICP), nine (9) from the Port of Subic, seven (7) from the Port of Davao and three (3) from the Port of Cebu.
Most of the expensive cars seized from Manila Port and Subic were gathered and condemned in one location only, while cars in Cebu and Davao were destroyed simultaneously on their respective areas.
Most of the cars are classified as slightly used except the three (3) brand new vehicles, one (1) Mercedes Benz and two (2) units of Toyota both impounded in Davao.
On video, you will see those units trodden by a bulldozer are 10 BMW and Mercedes Benz cars, a Lexus, Corvette Stingray, Ford Explorer Base 3.5L, Jaguar Type S, Audi S5 and a 2012 Jeep Wrangler.
