The internet world is flooding with the controversial issue following after a priest Msgr. Fr. Arnel Fuentes Lagarejos who was caught during the entrapment at Marikina City having an affair with minor of 13-year-old.
The entrapment was conducted by Police and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday, July 28, 2017.
According to report, Fr. Lagarejos started to negotiate with other minor who stands as middle-negotiator using social media to establish his plan to the 13-year-old minor victim at Blue Wave Mall at Samulong Highway, Barangay Sto. I’m from the town (Cainta) where this priest used to reside. Father Lagarejos was a very charismatic priest who delivered very interesting sermons but he was also well known in the community for his lavish lifestyle and diva attitude. Very unChrist like.
Those negative character traits the community can tolerate but sexually abusing a child is something we cannot forgive. I hope that the Catholic Church keeps their promise and banish him permanently from the church because from what I know priest who have been offenders are sent off to reformation camps (with lots of hard labor) then relocated to another parish. As a priest friend told me that the Catholic Church have a saying “Once a priest, always a priest” which is unacceptable. A priest who does satanic acts cannot continue to act as a priest and must be cast away.
