Socialist group Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) indicates their concerns about the many members of the Cabinet who are actively working on the fulfilment of the economic reforms as promised by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The group was headed by Ramon Lopez, Ernesto Pernia, Benjamin Diokno and Silvestre Bello, Secretaries of the trade, socioeconomic planning, budget and labor department respectively.  Among the economic reforms that these secretaries have opposed despite the president’s support, is the termination of all forms of contractualization, establishing a national wage board, having a substantial wage increase for both public and private sectors as well as the ban on land conversion.

Beforehand, the government’s so-called economic managers gathered and reject the P125 national wage increase proposal that would result in inflation rates up to 9.7 percent and would increase the unemployment problem by 1.2 percent.

According to the group spokesperson Attorney Luke Espiritu, the Cabinet Officials are poisoning the mind of the President to withdraw his promises and to fear mongering.  BMP fears that other measures will raise the quality of life of many Filipinos living below the poverty line will have the similar fate as the wage increase proposal.
