Peter Laviña the Spokesman of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the next president of Philippines clarifies some details about the implementation of nationwide curfew and liquor last Tuesday. Laviña explained to put at ease on the fears of some people that this order will deprived freedom of Filipino’s.
Laviña on a press briefing told reporters “The curfew is principally for minors, unescorted minors, past 10 p.m. It does not include minors with their parents or guardians. This is to make sure that our children are in their homes, sleeping already, preparing for the next day in school,” he also said that in Davao City liquor ban is implemented which forbids establishments selling of alcohol after 1 a.m. and only in public places and this will be applied nationwide when Duterte becomes the President.
“The reason he has this liquor ban because we have to work the next day. Nothing to do with denying us our freedoms. When you go home, you can drink to your heart’s content in the privacy of your homes,” He stated
“I think these measures can be adapted nationwide, of course, after consultation with all concerned parties. He can do it, of course by executive order, but the best is through democratic process of legislating these measures,” as he added.
With these policy it will help to prevent accidents on the roads which commonly caused by drunk driving. Also karaoke and no-smoking policy in public areas in Davao are implemented and also be applied nationwide.
