PAG-ASA and Project NOAH of Department of Science and Technology releases the latest update regarding the danger brought by Storm Surges as of December 5, 2014 due to the expected damage brought by super typhoon “Ruby”.
According to PAG-ASA as it announces it latest update at 11:00 AM Bagyong Ruby was located at 455km East of Borongan, Samar. The typhoon has garnered the sustained winds up to 215 kilometers per hour near the eye of the storm and gustiness up to 250 kph, the typhoon is taking the path of West Northwest at 13 kph and will landfall on Samar approximately this Saturday night.
PAG-ASA stressed that Bagyong Ruby will be associated with strong winds and expected to cause a storm surges up to 4-5 meters almost as tall as a normal house.
In also possesses an intense rainfall from 7.5-20mm per hour within the span of 700km diameter.
Project NOAH also advise areas under Signal 3, 2 and 1 must take heed for possible flashfloods and landslides. Local fish folks with small vessels must not go out from the sea due to the danger of the typhoon.
