Original Filipino Music (OPM) lover, “Rence Lee Rapanot” proved himself that Filipino music is still welcome up to this time even at this modern generation where the young generation seems to be different enough in terms of music inclination.
Rapanot was able to turn the four chairs and wowed the studio audience with his rendition of Dong Abay’s “Mateo Singko” on Saturday, November 8, 2014 during the blind audition of “The Voice of the Philippines” Season 2.
Coaches had the same tune on their comments that the 21-year-old has its own unique way of singing which obviously discerned as he sang a song with feelings that connects the listener in every single word that conveys the message of the song.
Coach Sarah Geronimo commented saying that Rapanot has clearly delivers the message about the main thought of the song that expressed being, “Mahirap, maging mahirap” that touches not only the heart of the coaches but the audience as well.
Coach Bamboo was convinced with Rapanot’s performance in the since that one of the qualities of a singer Coach Bamboo was looking for the contestant is that he can tell a story through singing.
Coach Lea Salonga perceived his passion to the music the way he sang a song. She said there is a perfect combination and timing the way he utters the words, the note, and guitar.
However, in an attempt to convince the OPM singer, Apl.de.ap called his best friend and fellow “Black Eyed Peas” member hoping to entice Rapanot to join his team.
Finally, Rapanot chose Coach Bamboo to be his mentor in his journey to win the much-coveted title of the “The Voice of the Philippines” Season 2.
