In Occidental Mindoro, there’s a couple that can prove that despite of race and culture, Love is powerful than all. The 29-year-old Mangyan named Shem and a 22-year-old American Girl her name is Jenessa who are lived together in one roof.

In an interview, Shem is so lucky to have a very beautiful American wife. And his wife will give birth to their first child. Because of that, Jenessa’s family will go to Philippines to see her daughter.

Their love story was started in 2007 when she visited to the Philippines as one of the American missionaries to teach the Mangyan tribe in Occidental Mindoro. By that time, she found her “mangyan love” that really to be in her class t to learn and she was giving him a big smile.

She spent 3 months with the natives as their mission, and also that moment, Shem also takes time to know her more. When Jenessa went back to US after 3 months of mission, they still continue to communicate through letters.

After Shem won the heart of Jenessa, she came back to Philippines to promise her love to Shem through a simple civil wedding.

This is an example of True Love; despite of their differences in terms of culture, race, and state of living, when true love knocks “walang makakapigil dyan!”
