Amidst the controversial report on the long time allegation that actor Coco Martin is having a child with actress Katherine Luna.
In an exclusive interview with Boy Abunda on “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, May 18, 2014, the 32-year-old “Ikaw Lamang” co-stars Coco Martin admitted that he took a DNA test in order to confirm if the 8-year-old child of Luna is his.
“Dumating ‘yung time, nagshu-shooting ako ng ‘Born To Love You’ sa Luneta. Nandun ‘yung bata and ‘yung lola. Pumunta ako doon, kinausap ko. Ang gusto ko mangyari, gusto ko ibigay ‘yung best ko para sa magiging anak ko,” he said.
Martin talked with the grandmother of the child who was there in the shooting scene in Luneta, asking her to grant him all the right to raise the child so that, Martin said, he can give his best support and parental guidance to the child.
Excited Martin called immediately his manager and told him that he can get the child into his custody. His manager told him saying, “Teka lang hindi ganun kadali ‘yun. Kailangan idaan sa legal na sitwasyon.’ And then sabi niya, ‘Kung talagang gusto mo, kausapin natin, ipa-DNA muna natin,’” continued Martin.
According to the report, the DNA test did not match and turned out to be negative.
In connection to the controversial issue about the alleged child of Martin to Luna, the actor said that things brought back painful memories to him when Luna painted him as an “irresponsible father.”
“Nasaktan ako dahil bumalik sa akin ‘yung mga nakaraan. Sabi ko nga lahat ng masasakit na salitang inabot ko, pati lola ko nahihiyang lumabas kasi napakairesponsable kong tao, ‘yun ang tingin sa akin. My point is, sana naisip mo din ‘yung bata. Kasi lahat ng mga kalaro niya, I’m sure kapag nakikita ako sa TV ‘Ay ‘yung daddy ko.’ Hindi lang ako. Ang laki nung damage na nangyari,” he said,
Luna and Martin romantically linked to each other when the actor was just starting out in the movie industry starring in independent films.
Martin, however, clarified that they were never a couple and they never lived together.
