Batangas governor Vilma Santos-Recto shows her intention of giving full support to her son Luis Manzano with his rumored political plans.
In an interview with ABS-CBN’s fearless program “Tapatan Ni Tunying” hosted by Anthony Taberna or known for “Ka Tunying,” on Thursday, February 27, 2014, Governor Vilma Santos admitted before Ka Tunying that her son Luis is far from being ready to serve the public as politician. And if ever he decided to serve in the public office, she and Senator Ralph Recto will send him first to school in order to study before entering politics.
“I don’t think he’s ready. But if he decides to run for a position, I will send him to school first just like how Sen. Ralph Recto told me to do,” she said.
Earlier, the 32-year-old actor TV hosts Luis Manzano, expressed his plan in following the footsteps of her mother, but one way or another he expresses that it should not be a mere “escape” plan for show business.
He also explained that being a politician is not an easy challenged and he understands that he needs to deal with his potential constituents fairly and that is why, he needs to prepare himself before he enters politics.
Meanwhile, Governor Vilma Santos implies on her possible plan in considering retirement from public office in 2016, citing personal reason that she also needs to give time for herself after her great accomplishment as the present governor of Batangas and former mayor of Lipa City.
“I want to have time for myself too. I’m not getting any younger,” she said. “The mere fact that the people of Batangas, known as ‘barakos,’ trust a woman, that they believe in me and follow my orders — that’s priceless.”
