Vhong Navarro’s legal counsel Atty. Alma Mallonga believes that businessman Cedric Lee is the man behind the former pageant contestant Roxanne Acosta-Cabanero that inspired her to pursue the case against the comedian actor TV host Vhong Navarro.
In an interview with ABS-CBN Sports+Action’s “News +” Atty. Alma Mallonga shared on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 about her denial of Cabenaro’s allegation that she claimed Navarro abused her on the night of April 24, 2010, supposedly during her stint in a national pageant.
“Walang ginagawang karahasan si Vhong against this new complainant. And we are prepared [to face her accusation], in fact,” Mallonga said Wednesday
Atty. Mallonga said that they have already studied the detail of the case filed by Cabanero and they are confidence enough that they can easily disprove her allegation since they knew the specific details of the case in terms of time, date and place based on her sworn statement.
In addition to that, Atty. Mallonga expressed confidence because of some other factors supporting Navarro’s camp will strengthen them in their side which includes Vice Ganda’s statement under oath on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 as concrete evidence to be used in Navarro’s counter affidavit and the management of Island Cove who can also show records to confirm that Navarro was at the resort as one of the guest performer of Vice Ganda’s concert the night Roxanne claimed she was abused by the actor four years ago.
With these evidences, Atty. Mallonga established her conclusion that Cabanero’s complaint is part of a “strategy” plotted by Cedric Lee in response to the criminal charges filed by Navarro against him and Cornejo and six other involved in connection with a January 22 mauling incident.
The basis of Atty. Mallong’s analysis of the case was the statement itself by Cedric Lee’s interview with ABS-CBN News’ Jay Ruiz, wherein he said, “Merong mga ilang babaeng nagtawagan na sa akin dahil sila raw din pala ay naging biktima ni Vhong.”
With that, Atty. Mallonga was just laughing because of the conflict of their statement that they could not able to established concrete proof against Navarro.
“Nakakatawa nga si Cedric Lee. ‘Di ba sinabi niya, just one day after [Navarro’s interview on ‘Buzz ng Bayan’], ang dami nang tumatawag sa kanya. Paano nila malalaman kung paano tawagan si Cedric Lee, hindi ba?,” Atty. Mallonga said.
“In fact, ngayon palang, may mga naririnig kami na talagang pang-dishearten, pampaproblema kay Vhong na ‘di lang dito sa Manila. Meron pang lalabas doon sa Cebu ulit. In other words, papagurin siya,” Atty. Mallonga said.
“I will not be surprised if for example meron pang sumulpot na complainant, hindi na dito sa Manila, para guluhin si Vhong, i-burden siya financially. Baka sa Cebu, baka sa Davao. Because, as you know, Vhong goes around the country. So we are prepared,” she added.
Atty. Mallonga said, Navarro will submit his counter-affidavit against Cabanero’s complaint on March 13, during the preliminary investigation into the case.
