Filipino boxing Champion Manny “Packman” Pacquiao dedicated the world title bout against the American boxer Brandon Rios to the Filipino victims from the Typhoon Yolanda, he declared on Wednesday “This fight is for you”.
During the press conference in Macau the Filipino Champ expressed with emotional state that he will be doing his best for the people who are now in the stage of recovering from the ravaged of typhoon Yolanda in the country.
“I’m doing my best to win this fight and give a good fight especially with what happened to my countrymen,” said the world title eight weight divisions.
“To all the people and the families who have been affected by this storm, the typhoon — this fight is for you” announced the Filipino Champion.
In the press conference Pacquiao and Rios paid respect to each other. They don’t mind what was happening to their trainers in the gym of The Venetian Macau last Wednesday. Wherein, Manny Pacquiao’s coach Freddie Roach and Alex Ariza a former trainer also of Manny Pacquaio but now in the corner of Rios involved in an ugly expletive-laden physical confrontation. Both teams are making the best preparation for the fight.
“Let’s finish this in the ring and not in trash talk before the fight,” Paquiao said in connection to what had happening earlier in the gym.
“Let set a good example to all the people who admire boxing,” added the Packman.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Brandon Rios is confident enough to defeat Pacquiao, who will turn 35-year-old by the next year with its record of 54-wins, 5-losses and 2-draws in his pre-career spanning almost 19-years ago.
The former lightweight world champion declared that this is now the time for him to raise his flag of victory, once he beat Pacquiao. Rios is prepared in terms of all the shape of his life, discipline and diet. Being a good follower of instruction from the corner, he assured to beat the Filipino champion.
“I’ve been disciplined, I’ve been dieting, I’ve been doing every I have to do to win. I actually have followed the instruction of my corners, before I never did.
“They think I’m no problem,” Rios said, looking at the Pacquiao entourage. “Sunday, I’ll be a problem, Rios added.
The clash will take place on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Macau (0200 GMT), 9:00 p.m. Saturday night on the US east coast.
