I’ve Never Seen This White Crow! How is it Possible?

Have you seen this Crow with white feathers flying around in your backyard? Of in Filipino sayings “Gagawing ko lang ‘yan, Pagputi ng Uwak!” in Philippines, Uwak is Crow, but for real have you seen this bird with your whole life?

If you think if it is real Crow, Yes it is! This is Albino Crow. Usually it white in appearance with a pink or red eyes and legs. Albinism it is a genetic mutation that prevents the production of melanin in the body according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Appearance

Most of the albino birds are white in appearance; they have also pink eyes, beak, and legs because they have no presence of melanin on their body. It also affects the feathers of the crow that is why albino birds are usually white.

Advantages and Disadvantages

The advantages of these animals are:

Albinism regarding to the crows are quite rare, it also affects to them, and they are become famous to the people because of their unique appearances. But sad to say, because of that, it gives them a lot of Disadvantages to them especially if they are wild or not under care by humans whose expert to taking care to their kind.

These are the disadvantages of albino birds:

  • They are attractive, they are easier to see of their prey,
  • If the albino animals are the prey, they are easier to see by their predator.
  • Albinos look abnormal and often rejected by others and same species,
  • Because of that, that is the cause of their extinction.

Many experts and non-government organizations trying to take care these animals that nearly extinct by ecosystem, they are rejected by other animals especially by their kind.

These animals despite of their abnormalities they have also right to live.
