According to authorities, a 19-year-old marine student passed away on Sunday after allegedly going through fraternity initiation ceremonies.
Three suspects, including the driver of the car that was used to transport the victim to the hospital before it was abandoned, are currently being sought by the authorities.
A forensic analysis has been performed on the vehicle that was used to transfer the unconscious victim to a General Trias hospital.
The car was discovered abandoned in a barren lot in Barangay Panungyanan, and police were able to identify its current registered owner.
The car was seen arriving at the emergency room on Sunday afternoon, according to hospital CCTV footage.
The unconscious teenager was witnessed being brought in by three men. The victim was taken inside by two of them with the help of hospital employees, who tried to resuscitate him right away.
The males informed hospital personnel that the man was a hit-and-run victim, according to General Trias City police head Lt. Col. Bismark Mendoza.
But the males abruptly left as soon as the victim was brought to the emergency room.
Upon arrival, the 19-year-old was subsequently pronounced dead.
Police suspect the victim was hazed after examining the body.
The accused and the victim attend a marine school in Dasmariñas, Cavite, according to the police.
According to reports, the victim, a freshman, had informed his parents that he would go to a “team building” event.
Authorities used retracing to identify the vehicle’s original owner in Tondo, Manila, who provided documentation proving he had sold it to a buy-and-sell agent in Dasmariñas.
Police were informed by the third and current owner that his brother had been operating the car and had not come home since the incident.
Additionally, CCTV footage showed three guys leaving the car after parking it in an alley and leaving it close to the driver’s girlfriend’s house.
Three people are currently being investigated. Authorities are still trying to identify the two other males, but the driver has been recognized and is still at large.
Additionally, investigators are figuring out if anyone else participated in the initiation ceremonies. The number of participants in the autopsy is yet unknown, and the results have not yet been made public.
Those found may be charged with breaking the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018, which entails a P3 million fine and a term of life imprisonment.
